It's Falling in Sheets and Sheets

It's 4pm and it's dark as night. I stand on the balcony, able to reach out and touch the sheet wall of rain. Instead, I stand and wonder how long it took me to notice the quickening of my heartbeat. It became evident, pulse-racingly evident, that I am alive. Fully alive.

A joy, a bliss, a pleasure sweeps me. Because You're standing here. And You, too, are very alive. You are as real and as tangible and as powerful as the breath-stealing thunder. Your love is here! I am here in Your love. Who am I to think that I could be skilled enough to escape Your love? Foolishness. It is falling right in front of my face, in sheets and sheets. I don't stretch out my hand to touch in pure reverence. I couldn't possible touch it, could I? Could I -- me? -- touch God's love? The electric pleasure in my pulse keeps me still. I am content, I am already overwhelmed!

It pours and rains and pours -- and it's for me. He is pouring out His love. He always has and does. I don't know why or how or for whom. I just know it's raining, and it's raining because He loves us. It's always because He loves.

Invitation (5.27.10)

a new day
and the first thing I hear is his voice
whispering, calling, "awake, bride."
that is when I see him,
sporting a smirk upon the opening
of my green eyes.
and my heart melts, for he is Love.

i cant help but remember
how he saved me,
how he rode in, my brave knight,
with valor, delivering me from myself;
slaying my death with his own
and, with his faithful strength, returning to me.

as I lay there, admiring the delight
that's dancing on his face
I know that this hero of mine
has a plan.
extending his handsome, scarred hand
he leans in and whispers,
"run away with me..."

so we descend from the window,
because he only fabricates
plans of adventure and worth.
i feel no need to fear the possible fall
for he has kept me safe
in caressing hands
and vows to do so for always.

when our feet meet the ground,
we run through
cool green grass with our
heads thrown back in laughter.
upon reaching the wildflowers
and still waters, I know we have
arrived.

he sits me down in meadow,
then joins me.
with gentle fingers
tucking a red flower behind my ear.
he sees me stainless, pure, and lovely.
his eyes have yet to leave my face.
"you're beautiful to me."

the grass, the breeze in my hair, the sun kissing our faces.
as we lay there, I trust this is forever.
this is life, this is Love; making my
world a fairytale. and this I know: he'll ask me every morning to share
the day together as his Beloved.

Written by myself while I was in Italy this summer. I thought it was a very romantic place. I believe Jesus must have thought so too, because of all His wooing.

It's Easy to Believe...

...that after a month...
The tears would stop falling...
The pain would be healed...
The wounds be cleansed...
Lives would be restored...

...that after seven weeks...
It would all fade to a memory...
My arms would stop aching for yours...
A day would pass without reliving it...
You would loosen your hold on my heart...

...that after fifty-two days...
I could live a moment without wondering...
Realization would break through...
Something would finally make sense...
I could sing about it with you...

No.
This is still your pain,
That runs deep throughout.
Your strength challenges my own,
And in whispers asks me what I am made of.

Living Melodies

I am the instrument, and God the musician
I cannot play, cannot make beautiful music alone
What sounds do I make, what notes do I portray
The melody is there, but I'm useless without Your hands

Wondering which strings my heart strum
What keys do my actions press
How do my feet dance on the drums
May my life play an angelic song

I cry out loud with a prayer fierce with longing
To make music the way You once did
Two thousand years ago, far out across the sea
Perhaps the longing enhances my voice for You

Tune me and play me
The instrument is nothing without its Musician
Lend me Your ears, let me hear my song
So I can re-write it, to make You dance

From Shore to Shore I'll Go

From shore to shore I'll go
however, its hard, Savior, to know
please push me, Lord, in direction
for I know my wants are far from perfection.
Your Will is where i want to be
but I'm blinded, Father, You see
by Earthly things and the ones I've been craving
so I'll look up and remember the grace thats been saving.
